 Orlando 2011 - Day 6

Last day at Disney... The destination was Hollywood Studios. We got there early and were on rides well before opening. Like our previous day at SeaWorld... Janie, Peter and Monica got visits in to the most popular attractions early in the day. Rock 'n Roller Coaster, an indoor thrill ride, and the Tower of Terror were basically "breakfast". We also visited Star Tours, a 3D Muppet show, Lights, Motors, Action, Indiana Jones stunt show... We covered the park quite well!

It was the first time for me watching Movie set shows. Pretty cool. Stunt drivers, explosions, ramps and jumps are done here daily. I really got into the Indiana Jones show... And the WWII props and set. Stunt fights, dives from buildings, gun battles and explosions were all part of the explanation. Really something different and all from comfortable seats sheltered from the sun.

By mid afternoon we pulled up stakes and made a dash for home... I started to feel like a duck that had been whacked on the head. Too much going on for me and others. A refreshing dip in the pool / whirlpool back at the hotel (Dad had a quick nap) seemed to relax all hands.

At 5:30 we cabbed in to Orlando to use the Magic tickets we purchased online from home. Magic vs Heat... Full on Florida NBA game in a shortened season due to a labour dispute / lockout / strike! Anyway, we thought it an opportune time, while in a basketball city, to take in a game. Not having been (or even seen online) Amway Centre, it was a heap of fun. We had "nosebleeds" but could still see everything necessary. Indeed, the seats were far enough up that vertigo sets in... but it relaxes as the game gets underway and you realize all is not about to collapse.

The game itself was regular pre-season fodder... Home team started sluggishly, big guns on the floor for both teams early, but as the game progressed the benches carried the day. In the end the home team rebounded from a 20 pt deficit to win by four pts, 100-104. It was an entertaining evening... Couple beers, good game, lots of cheering and a beautiful Stadium. All is good. I'm always up for pro sports when we get out of Nova Scotia... we follow basketball some but it's the event that really catches the imagination. We caught it with a near "full house" and a home team win, as we exited with throngs of happy fans. Outside, we easily picked up a cab and landed safely at the BVS 20 minutes or so later. Awesome time!!!
