Oops... we forgot them!!! In March/08 Jane and I spent 8 self-indulgent days in London and Paris enjoying a "packed itinerary" of the history, art, architecture, food, attractions and entertainment (Europe '08). As wonderful as this was, we missed having the kids with us and decided we would collaborate with them to build a more family-oriented trip scheduled for the summer of 2008. Planning began in earnest in June for a week of travel in mid-August and we researched, using mainly internet information, to develop our own vacation.

The trip was planned in a broad loop, traveling to Toronto through eastern Canada and returning home through the northeast of the U.S.. The choice of transport was the trusty Corolla, mostly because it allowed us to more easily visit multiple cities at our own pace (not gas prices). The chosen itinerary, in general, was to spend the first day in Quebec City (followed by a travel day across Ontario), three days in Toronto (followed by a travel day across NY State), and two nights in Bean Town. Up front research identified transportation routes, E-Tickets and planning around attraction / museum / performance / travel times.

We had great success traveling with the kids to NYC in '07, and they were real troopers both in the car and on the ground, from Times Square through Giants Stadium. Their age lends to them readily accompanying us with full blessing (as long as we provide "back seat" entertainment and plenty of snacks). In the portions of the trip which the kids helped plan, we examined maps and costs for the excursion and Peter even paid for his day at Canada's Wonderland/City Pass.

Each day held "must see/do" items, selected by both the kids and ourselves, which were scheduled into circuits which end at that evenings accommodations. The resultant itinerary is an eclectic mixture of entertainment and family attractions beside educationally based museums. We made good use of most transportation options available, but spent plenty of time on foot in each of Quebec City, Toronto and Boston. I've broken this site out into day by day descriptions of the itinerary to share with you some of what we learned and experienced. It's really a synopsis of trip highlights and things we enjoyed on our journey.
