The Saga Continues

On the heels of a great family adventure to New York during the March Break of '07, it was decided that a guys "road trip" was in order to take in some of the excellent sporting events NYC has to offer. Participants included myself, brother Eric and son Peter (who filled in for brother in law JP - Welcome to the family Erin). Eric snapped up Peter from Grade 4 Phys Ed and we hit the road Thursday afternoon, armed with road maps, DVD player from Joan, flat of Olands, snacks from the girls and pillows.

Once again, the chosen route, at approximately 15 hours driving, was to travel through Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and New England to Fairfield, Conneticut. This time we stuck directly to the I-95 and did the entire journey without major stops. We pushed this hard in the hopes of catching a short rest, then taking in NYC for the day, as I wanted to make the best use of such a short trip. Needless to say their were moments of chatter and hours of silence as we weaved around New England into Fairfield, Conneticut, at about 4:30 am Friday morning.

It was there we woke our gracious hosts... Steve, Jen, Annie and Meg (and Shannon - See Gallery). They were amazing... from arranging tickets, making sure shopping was done for everyone, morning breakfasts, opening their home and even enjoying an ale with us. Thanks so much folks.

Peter was the best 9 year old passenger I've ever seen, running through two sets of duracells on the Game Boy. Eric, our trusty co-pilot, took copious notes of the entire trip and we have exacting stats on times driving, mileage, weather and directions. It'll help on future trips, as I think a next visit might focus on Broadway. Eric had never been to NYC, but very much wanted to see the locations, landmarks and sights seen so often on TV. Most of all, we were going to take in an NFL Game at Giants Stadium, Jets vs Giants... whooaahhh! We owe Steve "big" for nailing down the tickets and coming along to the games with us. Cheers...
