Montreal 2010 - Introduction

Okay... we woke up one morning mid-November after officially having had ENOUGH ALREADY!!! Work was getting to everyone in the household and Janie and I decided that it was important to get out of "Dodge" for a weekend and relax and enjoy each others company. I'd been tracking some seat sales with Porter flights so we figured "Why not?" ... and when some great Montreal seats became available we went for it.

We had been to Montreal with the family in '09 for a day and had a great visit to the downtown area and the Biodome near the "Big O". However, there were a couple of attractions that I really wanted to get back to that may not have necessarily been fun for the kids. I had researched several and quickly pulled up the links to grab some specifics as far as directions and times were concerned. In short order we had a slate of attractions with a great mix of museum, art, churches, foodie highlights, sports, shopping and "people watching". Although spontaneous, we got a good deal on the flight and accommodation from expedia and locked it in. However, we made the majority of our purchases on the fly and had pretty good success in getting to wherever we wanted.

An added bonus, one that we really hadn't planned and was quite a coincidence, was the realization that some good friends from Antigonish were going to be in the city on the same weekend. So, as it turned out, we got together with those folks for some great company and conversation after a trip to a Habs game and a morning brunch.

Anyway... thought I'd chronicle our 48 hours in Montreal as a bit of a keepsake. It's always interesting to look back and remember the attractions and just express in words the experience. This trip especially is one of words, as in our haste we didn't even think to stash a camera into the bag... speaks to our state of mind I think!!! Anyway, we had a blast and really, in many ways, a totally worry free weekend. Maybe, if you're planning a visit to Montreal in the near future, you may find an attraction or tip that'll help you plan!!!
