Days Eight, Nine & Ten

Days 8, 9 & 10 were big time travel days, taking the trip home in three long strides.  On Friday we traversed the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut, coming to rest in Wrentham, Massachusetts.  Lots of miles, but we were supported by Janie's choice of e-book, a Sherlock Holmes mystery - The House of Silk.  The book felt slow to start, but we got hooked on the way home and it helped pass the travel time. Janie and Monica got out and about in Wrentham, checking out some of the shopping malls and factory outlets. Pete and I made sure the TV in the hotel room / internet worked!!!

Saturday, we left Wrentham and pushed north around Boston to New Hampshire, where we stopped at the NH highway refreshment stand, and through southern Maine.  The destination Saturday was Bangor for some last minute shopping and a nice stop at Dysart's where I luckily fell into a Maine Clam dinner (I had been craving this since the Friday prior when we drove through to Philly).  The Bangor Hampton we stayed in was great, and the kids had an excellent afternoon swim.  We also got out to a few more shopping spaces (Janie found the L.L. Bean Store), where everyone got a little something in regards to clothes. In the evening we nailed down a movie, just a couple of minutes from the hotel, and took in comedy "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone".  Fun evening!

First thing Sunday morning we hit the road, as the NS forecast was suggesting conditions could deteriorate later in the day.  We hit the border in Houlton early and, after gassing up and navigating a smooth crossing, stayed the course stopping briefly at a Tim's along the route home.  Good decision as driving was downright nasty Sunday night (after we had snuggled in at home).  Great run with Janie sharing the duties at the steering wheel!
