Oceanside!!! A perfect day
at the beach for sure... I was on a cot at 6:00 am watching the
sun filter through the clouds on the horizon. Pretty serene here
in the morning... A measure of fitness for some as runners and
walkers trot the beach. Others bring their cameras to capture
the surf, color of the water and selfies... This beach, as far
as these things go, is pretty amazing. Miles of powdery white
sand, cabanas, drinks, and patrons of all shape and size. Sun
worshippers abound, while others recreate... I guess both being
forms of relaxation in their own right. Some are down right serious
about this beach stuff... On the beach before sunrise to stake
a claim and twisting the beachside cots to follow the path of
the sun.
All started with a Tuesday
morning appointment for the girls to head for the Spa. Pete and
I held down the beach cots with the warm wind rustling the palms
overhead. The package we had purchased gave us access to a closed
in beach area, with a bar, cushy beach cots, washrooms and enclosure
to limit vendors. Sweet... By midday we had a 28-30 degree beach
with the surf rolling in nicely. Janie, Peter and Monica hit
the waves for a stretch, then Janie joined me to enjoy the breeze,
mimosas, and Bahama Mamas. Our kids are real water dogs and an
hour in the water means nothing to them.
We left the beach behind at
1:00 to head back to the rooms and get cleaned up to grab a bite
of lunch. Monica and I moseyed to the beach area but it was quite
busy so we decided to saunter up to the main buffet and enjoyed
another great lunch. With no excursions planned we settled back
to the room for an afternoon siesta. Monica hit the bunk hard
and slept close to 2:00 hours. Peter had a snooze in the other
room while Janie and Eileen went back up to the main pavilion
to size up the resort stores. Monica acquired a nice outfit from
their efforts.
Janie made a supper time reservation
at an a la carte fancy "seafood" restaurant on the
beach for 6:00 PM so at around 5:00 we started to get clothed
again... Pants and shirt required for the guys and the ladies
come dressed to the nines. What we thought was the entrance for
the seafood place, ended up being the "El Gaucho" restaurant
which served beef! The staff didn't say anything when we gave
them our tickets - so what should have been an awkward moment
turned out to be a great mistake. We had a fine meal, actually
doing some sharing of samples from each other's plates.
We took a shot up to the platinum
pavilion before heading home to acquire a few snacks and water
to keep the wolves at bay. Nighty night after a lazy old day
in the sunny Caribbean. By 8:00 PM everyone was in the sheets.
