Day Five
A movie we were all familiar
with after countless viewings at home, the Lion King was the
entire focus of our Day Five (and last day in the city) events.
- Day 5
- Broadway - The Lion King - Of all things that were mentioned
by friends and family, the Broadway playing of Disney's Lion
King was a common highlight for previous travelers to NYC. On
Day Five my wife lined up for tickets and with the persistence
of a lioness herself, held the line until she got tickets. A
contact she had made the previous day helped her through the
ticket hailing process and kept us all up to date. After waiting
nearly two hours, she secured four seats (all together) for the
afternoon show. Not only were they tickets, they were in the
orchestra section on the aisle!!! Bit expensive, but well worth
the cost. The show was simply awesome. The music, cast, costumes
and sets were beyond phenomenal. The kids were as glued to the
show as we were, and, after an intermission chocolate fix for
my daughter, we enjoyed the show from start to finish. Our son
thought Raficki was the best... we had to agree. A first class
event which has appeal to young and old alike.
We bailed shortly afterwards,
doing one last lap through Times Square, a pick up from local
vendors and off across the city to where we parked. It was an
hour home, with a little traffic at the George Washington on
the way up the West Side. Another remarkable day in the city. |
