Maine/Quebec ’19 – Day Four

Waffle Makers

Amelia’s waffle making breakfast started our day. That Christmas present works great! Then some prep of road snacks, good byes and off to Augusta. Always a treat to visit with the Porters… thanks so much to them for hosting us and especially taking the time to help out with all of Monica’s questions! Then off with the trusty GPS to make a couple of quick shopping stops / fuel, and break new trail on byways upstate on Rte 201 towards Jackman and the Quebec border.

Aspen Cabin – Sky Lodge

It was a scenic drive with mountains, rivers and lakes. We had our eyes on a potential accommodation, but sadly, it was not really open. Unfortunately, that wasn’t stated on the website. We continued onward down the road through Jackman, and swerved in to visit a quiet roadside lodge to scope out whether they had vacancies. The buildings looked well cared for and Sky Lodge / Unity College became our evening lodging.

North Western Maine

We booked in and got settled… good timing as I was getting road eyes! I got a fire started in the wood stove and the girls snuck off a couple of kms down the road to see what we could forage for supper! Great little “spaghetti” adventure. After supper and some quiet time, Mrs Lumsden sourced New Years accommodations and we chilled to a measure of HGTV. We were into the beds early for a great sleep. Nothing but us and a yard full of deer. Great (and lucky) roadside find!
