NFLD ’18 Day One

North Sydney Terminal

There are things about travel that I look forward to… One being different means of transport. Such is the case with a trip to NFLD as it most often includes travel by sea via the Marine Atlantic North Sydney / Port aux Basques or Argentia Ferries. Day One saw us having an excellent trip from Antigonish to North Sydney catching the noon MV Highlanders crossing and making an early August departure on time!

Port Aux Basques Terminal

We prepped for the 6 hr sail, having brought a cooler loaded with snacks and technology to pass the time. Further, the very friendly lady tending bar on Deck 7 handled refreshments for us. It was an excellent trip and we arrived safe and sound in Port Aux Basques early evening, checking in to our accommodations at the Hotel Port Aux Basques. Glad we decided to do so with rain and wet highways facing us as we disembarked. We had supper at the hotel restaurant and opted for moose burgers (having noticed that fish and chips and been struck from the menu due to “no fish”), enjoyed a glass of wine and snuggled into the clean, comfortable room. Travel day in the bag!
