Travel day! Flight not too crazy early though so lots of time to gather things up and prepare without rushing. Janie had breakfast ready to roll at 7:00 AM and we even got to see the horses return one last time. They’ve been a real treat… A lasting memory will be the sound of horseshoes clopping en masse on the surface of the lane. Morning coffee on the deck was filled with discussion about the Tikal (Moksha) space and planning for the trip home. Could stand one more week of this… That’s for sure!
Anyway, our attention turned to making sure we leave the space the way we found it. Clarence’s pick up time for us was 9:30 AM so we had a couple of hours to pack bags, arrange documents, confirm flight status, and make sure all was returned appropriately. It is obvious that this accommodation was well looked after so we wanted to do our part. Thankfully, nothing lost or broken so we were in good shape! And, as was the case on Friday, we were glad to see our drive turn into the driveway just ahead of schedule. We said goodbye to Clarence and Marcia and were whisked away by Eric to Sangster International. With the AC on and great weather we made good time asking questions all the way.
We had a neat story (hope I’m not boring you) that came to conclusion on Sunday. There was a sighting of what looked to me like a weasel on Saturday crossing the yard by the pool. On the commute back to Sangster, I saw one again. The driver saw it too. I told him I’d seen one yesterday and he said, without hesitation, that it was a Mongoose. I’d found a story online the day before that said the same thing but thought it bogus. In fact, Eric went into detail in regards to the mongoose being an invasive species introduced from India to combat snake/rodent issues on the island. They have now not only “remedied” that but are making ground on other reptiles and amphibians (not to mention local bird eggs, chickens, etc). True story… Mystery solved!
We moved through lines nicely at the airport after settling up with a Eric. All about being early enough to adjust. Janie sourced up a nice meal and made duty free stops for some Sangsters Rum Cream and Jerk Spice. We also very quickly learned we had a flight delay of 40 minutes (which eventually became 40 more minutes). I was getting soggy when we finally got airborn. Despite being 1 1/2 hours late, it was a very good flight home and danced along quickly. The girls had downloaded movies and I made notes / played Suduko. We had excellent views from our side of the plane when passing NYC and Boston headed up the Eastern Seaboard. However, we lost two hours in time changes during the return trip north, which will make for a lengthy Monday at school.
Touch down in Moncton was at 10:05 and we cleared customs reasonably quickly… Leaving the airport at 10:35. We gassed up prior to parking so it was a non-stop trip safely in Antigonish at 1:00 AM. Thankful, tired, but so pleased with our adventure.
