Day Two began with morning coffees ☕️ at the Airbnb to ease into the day. We enjoyed our digs… the location is really hard to beat. Everyone used the slow start to swap photos, check out our awesome views and talk itinerary for the day. We discussed a few quick adjustments, opting to stay very close to the accommodation / Rogers Centre. We had previously thought a visit to the ROM might happen… but kicked that to the curb this morning after a busy Wednesday! With everyone fed and shined up we hit the streets.
Our first stop of the morning, just 8 minutes away, took us to the Ripley’s Aquarium located conveniently beside Rogers Centre. As with many attractions, it’s beneficial to get on site early ahead of tour groups – student tours. We picked up tix online and, after a quick stop at visitor services, took on a “laid back” stroll through the facility. It’s impressive… with freshwater, coral reef, jellyfish and, of course, the shark tank pedway! We held court for about 1.5 hrs and absolutely enjoyed the stay. Great for all involved.
Post aquarium we had a great sit and watch at the Second Cup overlooking Front St West. We solved a lot of problems during that sit 😂, as we watched buses, pedestrians, delivery folks and Blue Jays jerseys navigate a busy slice of earth. Post mug-up, Mom and Dad landed at the Airbnb while Janie and I wandered off for provisions at Mike’s Independent City Market Toronto! Great stop for purchasing some Lumsden A-1 charcuterie supplies as well as drinks 🍷! Upon our return, and rejigging our Jays gear, we gathered ourselves for the trip back to Rogers Centre!
Round #2 of Red Sox vs Blue Jays was an afternoon start… and we were on deck at gate opening. Mad Max was on the mound and it was high hopes that a Jays sweep might be in the offing, but no such luck today. Dad described the Jays offense as “ANEMIC”! Not wrong 😂! The game ended 7-0 Sox, after an absolute lack of hitting, mistakes from multiple relievers, and some coaching decisions that, for me, weren’t conducive to a Thursday win. Regardless, we had a great time and enjoyed all the hijynx that’s an MLB ballgame. So glad to have been in the park! And, obviously, so many others were as keen as us, as nobody left until the last strike. Privileged indeed to once again have the opportunity ❤️.
We made some choices after the game… anything in regard to stopping and “eating” was gonna be way too busy for these folks! Instead we invited a guy named “Pinot Grigio” over to walk us through an early Thursday evening and keep us company. The charcuterie fell nicely into place and an excellent evening of conversation. By bedtime we had bags organized, the Airbnb ready for check-out and assembled a Friday morning plan for travelling home… believe it or not, a relaxing couple of days in the city!
Thanks so much Chris and Janie for taking such great care of us. It was an amazing trip with baseball, Hall of Fame, Ripley’s Aquarium, and lunch with Kelly at Rodney’s (who still loved me even after I refused to try his raw oysters). Everything else he suggested was absolutely delicious. And, yes, we stayed on the 30th floor and as well, travelled in a tunnel under water… for someone afraid of heights and underground it worked out well.
A pleasure for us to have you both along. We don’t often travel with others… but as this one went it was easy peasy! I was wondering how the oysters was going to go… and both you and Kelly handled it perfectly. We knew you’d love the game and have an excellent time at aquarium so glad those were on the list of things to do and got accomplished. Dandy trip all the way round! ❤️
Sounds like a great day! I love the big smiles. Buzz could maybe come advise our WGTR squad considering our somewhat anemic offense as of late.
