By daylight we were starting to fumble around the room getting ready for a travel day and the beginning of our tumble back towards Antigonish. The idea was to get to Edmundston for a couple of nights to enjoy the outdoors and then get home by New Years Eve. So we gathered things up, took a load to the vehicle, and ventured out to grab some breakfast.
We came to rest at Au Petit Coin Breton for “dejeuners”! Yum… fun takes on omelettes, crepes, fruit and Monica’s fancy hollandaise and asparagus crepe. All chased with copious amounts of coffee. The meal was delicious… and our friendly waitress in her Bretagne garb was on top of it all! We had great luck at the eateries we tried on Rue St-Jean.
At 10:00 AM we were settling up our parking and prepping for the road east. By 2:15 ATL time the parking lot at the Four Points Sheraton in Edmundston was our friend. Top notch driving conditions and clear skies were the norm all the way and we made excellent time. Check in was smooth and everyone enjoyed a snack from the cooler. I sacked out for a quick nap, Peter hit the shower and the girls sniffed out a mall close by. Either way, everyone found a few minutes of relaxation.
Now, to be quite honest, the afternoon was shaping up as pretty quiet affair… or at least until we remembered that Canada / USA were going head to head at 4:00 PM in the first ever outdoor World Juniors game. It was one of those seesaw overtime / shoot out affairs that we came out losers on… enough said! Off to supper at Frank’s Bar and Grill to make our 7:30 reservation. The place was packed, but we were seated immediately and enjoyed drinks and the live entertainment (nice surprise). We ordered up some great selections from the menu and had a super relaxing supper. Everyone snuggled in early to ready themselves for a chilly Saturday of outdoor activity.
