I guess most summers over the past five years have seen us sneak in a trip of some sort. Some have been mega-vacations, like our jaunt (via Toyota) across the continent to the west coast and back. Others, such as our Newfoundland tour to all corners of the island, have been closer to home. Traditionally, it has been one of the few times we have been able to convene as a family.
However, with Pete working and Monica at camp, Janie and I found ourselves alone with a weeks time and the urge to get on the move. We were drawn to the US Northeast, partially because we had several regions we hadn’t yet explored, coupled with the possibility of reuniting with good family friends from Maine. Further, several recent articles I’d read on Twitter feeds had me hankering for some fine looking New England Craft Beers. Thought that might be fun! After touching base with the Porters and securing a potential date for a visit with those folks, we quickly built a week’s touring around that opportunity. It all came together nicely with a few short blasts of research. Gotta love the ‘net!
Once again… I’ll be blogging our movements daily. Great way to share trips with family and friends. We’ve developed a travel loop around New England which I think reaches some of the roads and communities less travelled. We hope to get “out of the car” more and walk an assortment of hiking trails in each of the states we visit. Further, being “sans Kids”, we’re thinking that we can experiment a bit in regards to drink and dining. We’ll post where we stop, what we see, and our impressions! You’re more than welcome to follow…
