Okay… this sets up as a full on month as always. Quickly to Camp Lumsden in early July for a few days of hiding out, tempered by occasional Stanfest site visits and chores at 204 Cloverville! We’d been abroad the last couple of summers as soon as school was out. However, this year we opted for closer to home in response to US sponsored global instability. Absolutely not cool! Thus, early July set up as camp chores, Stanfest overnights and some finalizing of items at home.
As with most “month of July” story lines over the last 30 years, we found our family waist deep in all things Stanfest. Lots of volunteering, whether it being on site, completing stage prep, or a Costco spree… it’s run of the mill for our gang. I was blistered, burned, sore and happy as we moved into Stanfest week. And that had nothing on poor Curtis 😳!!! Lots of hands for “Fence Day”.
Gotta say, our gang kicked butt this year. We all contribute in different capacities, but to the same end, creating a professional & welcoming Stanfest experience for the many patrons that return year after year! The involvement is really too much to drop here… but the weeks leading up are all consuming and physically and mentally demanding. All in, successful event this year! Even tougher… the courage it takes to pack up and put away is even harder. Privileged to have another Singing Stan under my belt… best gig in the world 🎶. After a crash and burn 🔥 it was back to the camp! It all looked a little neglected after some July abuse. And yes… Mr Fozzy Bear has indeed returned this month. Thankfully, no damage on the subsequent visits and we are being super careful to make sure there is nothing on the property to attract the mostly unwanted attention of a young, hungry bear. Neighbours suggest that when the berry crop shows up in the barrens we will have seen the last of him 🤞.
July ended as it began… busy! Big thanks to Troy and Jen for an invite to take in “The Public Service” at New Glasgow Jubilee. Supper, drinks and music!!! Jan and the gang were absolutely tight. Great evening (even a visit with Uncle Dave) and excellent company ❤️… maybe this was the start of summer for us.
