Road Trip!

When it’s winter, you play in the snow! That was our plan as we pulled out of Antigonish after Christmas with the Rav loaded with warm clothes, skates, snowshoes and some reservations for Quebec City. All hands were in the car, as our band of four merry travellers set a course northward! The target was to go to our furthest point first day (weather permitting) and then make our way home in steps. Gets the bulk of driving over with while everyone is still fresh.

On a straight run its about 9 3/4 hrs driving time so with snacks, a credit card and the thermometer at -11 we hit the road. Actually, I was somewhat concerned about the cold as an Arctic air mass was forecasted to sweep down over much of Canada bringing dangerously frigid temperatures/wind chills to our region. We knew we’d require some warmer clothes and to be careful to limit exposure. It would be a google search and stop somewhere en route to see what we could fandangle for the oncoming trip into the deep freeze. And we’re off!
