Not sure if it’s due to habit or necessity, but when we get a run of days both Janie and I love to roam. This holiday, spanning two weeks, set up nicely for some travel. We had a couple of visits in mind, but otherwise were an open slate with zero reservations and visa/passports in hand.
Circumstance would have it that Monica’s “bestie” at StFX this semester is the daughter of one of Janie’s best friends while she was at university. The Barry’s have visited “Lumsden Lodge” numerous times over the last few years, as they move their kids back and forth to school. They’d invited us to drop in on several occasions, but it just hadn’t occurred!
However, this go round proved different. We departed from Cloverville headed for Rothesay, NB on Boxing Day (good roads… 4 hrs drive time). Not over-packed for sure… with just Janie, Monica and I leading the charge. Only one real stop this travel day at the Big Stop in Aulac for gas and “refreshments”. We held up at the Barry’s place of residence on the beautiful, frozen Kennebacasis River. It had been a long time since we’d headed towards St John, and it was fun to re-visit that part of the province.
Big stay… entirely relaxing and a perfect chance to catch up! We arrived around 3:00 PM and spent a great evening taking in some World Jrs (Canada 6 USA 4) and board games (Balderdash / Telestrations), with lots of drink and snack! Absolutely fun to sit back and watch the next generation merge… Great to be young! Huge thank you to our hosts for the hospitality and a Boxing Day place to bunk.
