We were all eyes on prep for Vegas at about a week out… improving on details big and small while cleaning up on the week before break duties at school. The time before travel is always filled with highs and snippets of excitement, but tempered by weather watching, concerns about making connections and focus on being well prepared for a “new to us” destination. Our planning looked decent, yet I was a bit torn. I felt at times we may have had too many loose ends while simultaneously also knowing we should hold space to adjust / manoeuvre our itinerary while on the strip. It’s the balance between a stay that’s totally scripted and one that flows with the ebb and tide of what presents itself once at the destination.
To provide context, efforts pinpointed in last minute prep included some specifically time sensitive bookings & reservations such as foodie stops, tickets to an ever growing list of attractions, and the integration of last minute ideas that we really wanted to incorporate. Tasks involved communication with businesses / attractions, to which I never really felt like I had success in my Vegas planning. Perhaps we’ve gotten a bit used to dealing with the organized, punctual, matter of fact question & answer interactions with Europeans (😃). Another essential readiness element had us tuning up apps (i.e. Uber, OpenTable, Airalo), researching e-Sims and updating itinerary & map data, part of our growing dependency on tech / iPhones. In essence, it was all peace of mind stuff that saves time on the ground. All one really needs is a passport and credit card, but to make the best of our vacation time we love being “ready”!
Tonight we find ourselves watching planes arrive and depart at the Alt Hotel adjacent to Halifax Stanfield International… on site for a busy Saturday “Las Vegas 24′ – Day 1”. Should all go as expected 🤞, we’ll be real-time blogging and posting pics here tomorrow as Janie and I explore the pizzazz that is Vegas. Through our own research, and some great tips from fellow travellers, I think we’re all set! We welcome you to indulge in some of the best of “Sin City”, from the glitz of Fremont St to the neon-lit opulence of The Strip, the foodie flavours of eateries both grand and quaint, and a selection of events & shows that range from awe to cliche in this desert entertainment mecca! As always, there’s a comment section at the bottom of each page where you can drop us a note if you have questions or a “tip/trick” you’ve used in The Capital of Second Chances. Wheels Up ✈!

Can’t wait to watch this journey. LV is such a cool city. And we know you folks will find the ‘neatest’ spots. And…. throw a few bucks down for us!!
Mike… thanks for the texts, and especially the nods on several foodie sites we hope to take in. Knowing you’ve been to Vegas on several occasions and that it was a highlight for you and Kathy assures me we’ll have a blast! Thanks so much for breaking trail on this one and following along on the blog! Cheers ✈️
Home again and enjoying your blog…must admit I got caught reading back as far as Stan Rogers 2023!!!
Welcome along Eileen! Gotta say… we’ve been very much enjoying the weather here. A comfortable 20°C with clear skies and no snow shovels! 😂
