So we made our way down Canada St in Edmundston at about 8:30 AM, shortly after check-out. Light flurries were forecasted for the travel day from Edmundston to Antigonish. This was my first visit into the tiny city. Although somewhat buried beneath a foot of snow, it really looks like a tight-knit community and everyone we met were absolutely welcoming and helpful.
Great trip through Northern NB, and we actually drove from Grand Falls to Florenceville and did not see one vehicle (ahead or behind) in our two lanes. Also different was a Matt Anderson tune coming out of Peter’s Playlist when we passed Perth-Andover. Like almost all of our return trips, we stopped at a New Brunswick Big Stop… this time outside of Oromocto. We managed a “food coma” style breakfast, took bathroom breaks, and were gassed up / back on the road in 40 minutes. Perfect highway driving stop. I also switched out of the drivers seat for the first time this trip and Janie took over the wheel with clear roads ahead.
At Oromocto we arranged the opportunity for a quick “brunch” time with Chris Mackay in Aulac. We arrived there at 1:30 PM and caught up on all the latest. It’d been September (trip to the Porters in Me) since we’d last seen him and lots of news to share. Excellent visit leading to the last couple of hours driving, all with well kept roads and a SuperMoon pushing up from the east. We pulled into the driveway in Cloverville just before five to see our deer are back, like shadows on the hill behind the house. Put that trip in the books as a successful holiday excursion!
