Uh-oh… can you say sleep in! I didn’t really rise until close to 6:45 AM (really 7:45 on the internal clock). I made myself some java and did some online research until the girls arose. We made the decision to head for Washington General Store, where we picked up some pastries and a bag of coffee. Had an excellent conversation with a local that began his introduction by apologizing for “Trump”. We probably yarned for 10 minutes before I saw the girls standing at the door.
Upon our return we had a fine breakfast “Mug Up” and then chatted about a plan for a fine weather Saturday on Coastal Maine. Got to business here! The night before Monica had posed a question to Than and Stephenie in regards to options for adventuring on one of the many wooden cruise boats that frequent the Penobscot Bay each tourist season. After detailed discussions, Than / Stephenie took us around to find many of the wooden boats in Rockland & Camden Areas, seeing the vessels (although winterized) and mooring locations. Should Monica proceed with the idea… the info will be of great value.
After all that visiting, lunch seemed in order! Amelia had pizza on her mind, so we headed for Flatbread in Rockport Maine. With a gorgeous wood fired oven and cozy seating, we settled in for a scrumptious selection of pizza, salads and relaxed eating. Thumbs up on that choice Amelia!
Post pizza… we decided some exercise was in order. We took on the hike at Beech Hill Preserve before dusk and rallied atop the hill so Than could show Monica the rough sailing area for most of the coastal boats. Wonderful view, good exercise and a great chance for the youngsters to run, jump and stretch the bodies. A quick stop at the grocery store for tortillas finished the mobile portion of the day.
Back in Appleton, drink, music, meal preparation and a fantastic supper were on the menu. Stephenie always shares a “new” meal with us and we go home wanting to duplicate in our kitchen. Last trip was an Indian dish… this time I fell in love with pork burritos prepped with a liberal dose of “smoked paprika” that we ate in wraps for supper. She snuck me a tin of that spice on the way out Monday morning. Wonderful evening!
