This May was a tough ol’ slog! In-person schooling was shut down, travel between Municipalities against the law, retail outlets enforcing customer restrictions… not much fun! Janie and I continued with At-Home-Learning and launched online materials / Google Meets for our students, but it’s just not the same. Don’t get me wrong… very glad to be healthy, vaccinated and working. Just that it made for a month that seemed to go on forever!
But… wait for it… as things always seem to do, a crack opened just enough for me to legally spend some time at camp (made it the primary residence) at the end of the month! Enjoyed 10 days of some of the best social distancing / quarantine time available! Saved me… I was struggling with all the tie downs! Anyway… I found opportunity for solid exercising, outdoor recreation, property improvements, solitude and fresh air (thanks Janie).
Where to start… While commuting to work daily I also got some exterior painting done, finished front screen door, started a flagstone walkway, installed the waterline, raked in a grass seed blend, schlepped some windfalls home from local trails and even landed a beautiful 15” trout from the other end of the lake. All came to an end as abruptly as it started, with a June 2nd back to school. In the midst of all this, we continued with the healthy food/exercise routine setting ourselves up nicely for June, always the busiest work month of the year!
