The day started with a quick check out, meeting our T2 transfer waiting at the door (early), and a smooth process getting past security. We kept busy with a couple of coffees, a few duty-free purchases and some writing time. Flight boarding was a little “scrambly” as folks with tix seemed to ignore the zone calls. Regardless, we got out close to on time (20 mins late) for the 6 1/2 hr flight ✈️ homeward. I’d have to assume that Heathrow is one of the world’s busiest air hubs, so all in we were more than pleased with our arrivals/departures from here!
This type of trans-atlantic flight is fully loaded… no empty seats, onboard screens, full meals and a lot of “sitting”! Janie is most often quick into the movies. She graciously lets me sit by the window as my eyes are almost always drawn to the views & aircraft logistics that fill the runway areas of places like Heathrow. The onboard Flight Map took us over central Wales, Limerick, IRE and not seeing land again until Bonavista, NFLD and again along the coastline of Cape Breton, NS. A lengthy, but excellent flight home 👍!
In Halifax we disembarked, completed immigration and customs, and were on our way. Of note, we did our customs declarations using the ArriveCAN App and were directed to an express line that rolled us around 85% of the folks in the room. Nothing more than a “hello” at customs! Parking validation for our 9 day was mostly covered (7 days) with our Friday stay at the Alt Hotel, so we lessened that fee with a quick stop at the check in desk. Then homeward on a busy Hwy 104 where the RCMP were actively patrolling. So very thankful for the safe passage this time around. All in… an excellent trip!
