Toronto ’25

Planned in the spring of ‘25, before the weather (and Blue Jays) heated up, this little excursion was focused on using the highway to get a merry group of travellers to the seats of Rogers Centre in the heart of TO for some baseball ⚾️! By travel time, the Jays were leading the AL East and battling through a slate of injuries and trade deadline turbulence to maintain their hold on a playoff berth. With a Cubs vs Jays series in the offing, we were on deck to make the trek!

Itinerary – Toronto

Of course part of the fun is the stops along the way. This trip was be different, as we had collaborated and planned out the deed with Brad, Laura, JP and Eileen as part of the travel club! In its loosest form, the itinerary was a Monday morning “crack of dawn” departure from PEI driving to Toronto (overnight stop in Montreal), a couple of nights in The Six, then return (overnight stop in Quebec City). Jays tix, reservations and accommodations were already in place, so we were hoping things would be tic-tac-toe… but kept on top of it just the same. How much we would get to see depended on the group… so purchasing for attractions was marginal. More of a flash of ideas 👍!

Packed and Ready!

Janie and I travel hard… with spreadsheet itineraries of packed days that start early and often end very late. We planned similarly but absolutely know (and have stated many times) that this is not a vacation style for everyone (and maybe very few). Thus, the plan was more of a fail safe this go around, a set of guard rails to make sure that folks can keep busy (should they desire) but also be on time for and enjoy timed events / reservations. Of note, with a group of six we did have to do more specific planning for accommodation (I think Janie nailed this) and dining, as an arrival with a larger group without reservations doesn’t lend much flexibility. We held to our one small “backpack” travel preference, and modelled all the tech, city transport and low impact travel tricks we’ve learned along the way 👍.

Blogging from the back seat!

We’ll be blogging this one as usual, and I may even enlist some help / quotable quotes from others as we indulge in summer pennant race baseball, great foods and an Eastern Canadian family road trip. Lots of highway miles, but that’s not new for us. In fact, it may scratch an itch as we are missing our regular journey south. You are welcome to travel along, drop a comment or just “snoop” on the goings on. I promise to post the good and bad, but may leave out any ugly 😂. Looking forward to this one!
