Toronto ’25 – Day One

Car Snacks

Prep for us began Saturday and worked into Sunday. We had several ideas we wanted to try, including the healthy filling and organization of our trusty cooler and making sure we reviewed an itinerary that was months old. In fact, we did find one of the eating establishments we had selected was “Permanently Closed” so last minute adjustments were made and circulated to the others. Janie tackled some very specific grocery shopping and we built a menu for the in vehicle cooler! Trying very much to avoid garbage in, garbage out scenario with some pre-made healthy eating options!

MV Northumberland – P.E.I. Ferry

At about 2:00 PM, with bags packed and an assortment of lunch snacks prepared, Janie and I departed from Antigonish for reservations on Northumberland Ferries in Caribou. Presently, ferries have been running at restricted capacity due to issues with clearance and tides, so we made sure we were ahead of the curve. We arrived ahead of schedule and (for the first time either of us could recall) were in the poll position to get off the ferry first ⛴️! Awesome.

The 1.5 hr trek across the island to Summerside was at speed and we arrived to a buzzing residence, in full on Blue Jays / travel mode (they beat the Dodgers 5-4 Sunday evening with some inspired ball). More snacks prepared, bags checked, morning prep sorted out and readiness before bed on everyone’s mind. The MacKinnons, Eileen and JP were busy gathering the essentials, getting the vehicle ready and discussing tech (Apple Pay/Visa/etc) while Janie did accommodations follow up. In the bunk early to be ready for morning departure!

    1. I’ve learned that to be a good traveller one must be able to steal other ideas! After the thieving part is mastered, it’s just isolating what to take! Thnx for the kudos… ❤️ Ms Lumsden and I have systems that not all can appreciate!
