Zing ⚡️went the Rav4 out the highway this afternoon! Flump 💥 at our evening destination (Alt Hotel) at Stanfield International where I’m sitting and setting up our next blogging adventure – Central Europe! Swoosh ✈️ on our flights tomorrow to UK and Sunday connections beyond for what we hope is a full trip of what we love to do. And simply, fingers crossed🤞that the travel gods are with us and that all unfolds in a safe, orderly & timely manner. With March Break upon us, the bags at the door were a welcome sight!
Not sure if we really cared “where” we were headed this time ‘round, it was more of “as long as” we were headed. Beyond London bookends, the entire visit is unbroken trail for us. Our itinerary is almost thematic, with smatterings of history, politics, cuisine, architecture, the arts and blended with some truly unique cultural opportunities. Specific focuses, that speak to our personal interests and work, include World War II years, the rise and fall of Communism, and the European Jewish experience. Rest assured, though, not all will be so neat and tidy, as we tie in urban life at street level in Budapest, Vienna and Prague! We also hope to drop tips about transportation, things to do, and best practices while visiting (just in case you pass this way). As always, those that have gone before us have shared… and we try our best to pay that forward in the same manner of generosity. 😉
In my most linear fashion, the days are laid out on this website under the Central Europe ‘23 “twistee” and via links (Day 1, 2, 3, etc) at the bottom of each page. Please feel free to follow along, chase through one of the many attraction / accommodation / transport links, take in the pics we share or even respond with comment (found at the bottom of each page)… we love that! Writing about what, when, where has become an integral part of how we travel… we aspire to communicate while in the moment during our travels and it helps us process our learnings (while remembering how fortunate we are to be able to do this).
So Friday evening ended with a great stay at the Alt Hotel Halifax Airport at Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) after navigating what was a Friday before March Break “FULL” HIAA parking lot. We successfully checked in landing a room with a view of airplanes touching down throughout the evening. Fully rested, the next 24 hrs were set-up for the commute from Nova Scotia to Hungary 🇭🇺! What could go wrong!

Safe travels. Thanks for taking us along ❤️
Thnx so much Marie! Hoping this week is a much deserved break for all of us! Take care and enjoy your week as well!
Oh boy. Can’t wait to follow along. Loved Vienna and Prague and can’t wait to hear your take on both. Budapest is on our list so I’m looking forward to you folks laying down the trail for us. Enjoy.
First leg of the journey is in Mike! At Terminal 5 in Heathrow and making our way to evening accommodations that will get us lined up for an early departure to Hungary in the AM! And thnx so much for the earlier itinerary items you sent in regard to Prague/Vienna! We cherry picked through that!!! Happy you’re following along… 🤓
More than halfway through your transatlantic crossing, AC 868 is en route and on time! Excited to follow along on the journey.
Yes… all pretty close to on-time so far Caitlin. So glad you’re along for the trip 👍… Ms Lumsden is in her glory… for whatever reason we are “Guest of the Day” here at Hilton Heathrow Terminal 5… strawberries, chocolates and drinks awaiting us! Better to be lucky some days than smart. Thanks so much for chiming in… love it!
I love the “Guest of the Day” perk!!! And you didn’t even ask for it…and Janie remember you can always ask for a perk?? 😉 (spring last year) 🏝 😀
