As one does in mid-May when spring drags on, we took to thoughts of potential summer travel. The last several years we have taken a “post-academic year” trip into Europe and sampled “high season” travel abroad. Expense and sheer traveller volume presented minor challenges, but we had freedom of dates and got to see Europe in ‘full bloom”! This year… well, I was just not comfortable with the vibe. Global strife in the Middle East and uncertainty in travel (ie. fuel, interruptions, security) were getting the better of our attention. Thus… we opted into the safety and comfort of an in-country excursion. Enter… Toronto ’26!!!
Janie started the research with another group travel experience in mind, reasoning that a Lumsden based excursion for Blue Jays ball in Toronto fit the invitee profile perfectly. Yepper… Emily & Buzz were on our hit list as guests for a quick round trip to the “Big Smoke” for a couple of nights with the Boston Red Sox visiting the hostile confines of Rogers Centre. I know of few other such committed fans of sport in general, but with the added lens of being die-hard Jays / Leafs supporters the appropriateness of site for Mom & Dad was obvious. Planning ensued, with a working date shared / confirmed with my folks and major transport / ball tix secured shortly thereafter. I guess the rest of hitting this one outta the park was up to us!
With a few days out, we seem to have everything in place. Focus on this trip is baseball, but we have wedged in a “smidgeon” of foodie delights, some complementary / relevant attractions and the notion our company should feel organized, looked after and ready for the trip. Mom & Dad are super spry, but we’ve done what one can (in such a vast space as Toronto) to ration distances between our Google Maps “starred places” and minimize the Point A – Point B commotion (while hopefully still keeping sights / options interesting). Upfront ticketing & reservations, various transportation options, and carefully selected dining, accommodation and preferred attraction possibilities have all factored into our decision-making.

Hey Jen… thnx so much for checking in! We were, no doubt, hitting the wall last night after a very full day. All went pretty smoothly… flights, check-in, accommodations! Even with our focus area being tight, lots of steps and we all were feeling worn by days end. Big sleep coming up and we’ll see what Day 2 brings! The only thing we are really tied to Thursday is actually the ball game ⚾️, otherwise all is adjustable! Have a great day and we may see you guys Friday!

Hi Chris, yesterday sounded awesome …. the flight, running into friends, a wonderful meal with Kelly …. the Jays won the game!! Laura and I were home for the last 2 innings… so exciting… we were looking for the Lumsden crew in the stands!!
Hopefully today will be just as memorable.
We lucked out with all our arrangements Eileen! We always try to be prepared… but sometimes “cities” have other plans. So glad it’s working out! The game was super exciting (you watched the best part of it) with some tension at the end 😬. We’ve done okay on Day Two Jen… couple of ideas to the boneyard and we’ve introduced someone named “Pino Grigio” who kept our cheer up after the game 🤓! This trip has been a pleasure from start to finish… Mom and Dad are super easy travel companions ❤️
