So we said goodbye to NYC after a bit of whirlwind three days in and about Manhattan. If one is looking for a solid location downtown in an economical hotel… The Hampton was a nice option. Checkout was smooth and the valet parking attendant was about the expected 25 minute arrival. With my co-pilot’s help we navigated to the Hudson, then North out of the city connecting with the parkways to CT and beyond. Perfect trip out with traffic at speed all the way.
We made great time only stopping once at a Cracker Barrel just before the Mass Turnpike. Got a chance to stretch the legs and have some lunch. We arrived in Portland at about 3:00 PM and checked in for the evening. I was getting road eyes and with wet, dark conditions taking hold it seemed prudent. Nice evening, as Monica swam while we kicked back and got online to catch up, pay bills, and scope out Christmas Eve travel into Canada and home.
Thursday morning saw much of the same mild and wet weather. We were on the road by 7:00 AM and minus several food/gas stops, we spent the entire day on the road arriving back in Cloverville at about 6:30 PM. Chalk this one up as successful!
