After 9 days on the road, the weather finally made an impact in the decision process today! Post Tropical Storm Debby had charted its course through the Southern US and was rumbling Northeast. Although a short visit with the Sala-Porter combo, we thought it best to keep moving in an effort to stay ahead of the worst weather and make our way homeward. So, after convening in that cozy kitchen for the morning, we parted ways and made for open road and the Houlton border. A short pit stop in Bangor… then rack up the clicks for Cloverville!
Intermittent rain, in car snacks, long periods of silence and blog updates highlighted the journey home. This day would prove another 8+ hours of highway time. The raw distance for this road trip rounded out at approximately 6,180 kms. The Rav performed admirably and as “pilots” we shared duties at the helm or in the cockpit. Other than a few missed turn offs, and some inattentive highway concerns with other drivers, it all felt quite flawless! 🥹 We rolled into the border line up around suppertime… and crossed the threshold at home at about 11:00 PM (AST). Another pretty epic excursion in the bag.
As this trip, like so many others, eases to its conclusion we remind ourselves of how privileged we are to be able to carry out these endeavours. They are not without risk, nor are they free, and we value the opportunity to live and learn through travel. Many thanks to the “Commentors” and those that quietly follow along… we are glad that you travel with us and sincerely hope that there’s a nugget or tidbit you can take away for yourself. Over the next few days we’ll iron out our “Reflections” on Appalachia ‘24… until then it’s by for now!!!
