Rolling with it!

Winter in Cloverville

This December was the first in recent memory (since 2012) where we stayed put, and no real travel taking place. Two factors influenced the choice. Firstly, late November and early December saw us investing in some much needed, super efficient, home improvements (including an on demand propane hot water heater, energy saving propane furnace, and replacement of the dishwasher). Lots of coin out the door! Secondly, as a family our schedules were all over the place and there was essentially no real opening for even a modest vacation. Thus, no trip… maybe next Christmas!

Costa Rica – Flag & Emblem

We did, however, get into research mode and focused on the selection of a destination for March Break. After a wintry Nov/Dec, we were already looking for somewhere warm. Other “hopes” incorporated the notion we would select a “new to us” destination, one that’s fairly economical, and located in an area of relative safety. Then off to the ‘net to explore blogs, flights, accommodations and attractions. In short order we were dreaming of Costa Rica.

Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast

Well known as one of the foremost Eco-tourism destinations in the Americas, Costa Rica offers National Parks, rainforests, coastline, volcanoes and some of the friendliest locals in Central America. It’ll be further south than I’ve ever ventured. Next steps… Purchase flights, nail down accommodations and build an itinerary that combines relaxation with time in the great outdoors! Pick is done, but the works just begun!
